September 3, 2020 Career Write Up CHRISTOPHER J. FLYNN In late July, I was named President and CEO of New England Teamsters Federal Credit Union. It is located in Arlington, Massachusetts. The goal of my tenure is to make NETFCU one of the leading union credit unions in the country. I had spent the past two years since retiring devoting my energies to local and national not for profit institutions. Iretired in April 2019. I joined Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) in 2001, and served as the Senior Executive Vice President. During my tenure the credit union grew from $3.5 billion to over $18 billion. I served on various credit union committees; executive, pension, planning, human resources, credit and asset/liability. My responsibilities included risk management, treasury, investment management, credit and collections, financial services, planning, innovation, security and facilities. During the last three years of my tenure, I also served as President and CEO of the PenFed Foundation (revenues and serves tripled during this period) and the Credit Union’s CRA officer. I retired in October 2014. I lectured on financial education throughout the military community, various universities and received commendations from members of Congress and the office of White House Communications. Prior to assuming my role at PenFed, I served as an independent consultant from 1998 to 2001, for such companies as; Sun Life of Canada, New London Trust (consultant and director), and other public and private companies and financial institutions throughout New England. I was President and CEO of Primary Bank (aka Peterborough Savings Bank) in Peterborough, New Hampshire from 1987 to 1998, during this period, the institution doubled in size to over $500 million. I increased the bank’s camel rating from 4 to 2. The bank grew to be the second largest SBA lender in NH. The bank also achieved an “outstanding” rating for its CRA efforts. The bank acquired two financial institutions during this period. The bank converted from mutual to stock in 1993. Four years later, the institution was acquired by Granite Bank of Keene (now Peoples United), New Hampshire, (triple the IPO price) where I served as President and Director of Granite Bank, in Keene, New Hampshire until the end of 1998. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, I served as Senior Vice President of Shawmut Bank (now Bank of America) of Boston, in its Capital Markets Division. Responsibilities included sales, trading and correspondent investment advisory services. Before joining Shawmut, I was a Vice President and senior fixed income portfolio manager achieving top decile performance for Bank of New England’s Trust Department. I also was senior correspondent bank investment advisor performing balance sheet, income statement and ALM analysis along with providing pricing and portfolio recommendations. Earlier in my career, I worked as an auditor for Humble Oil and Refining Company (EXXON), a cost accountant, sales training manger for Dennison Manufacturing Company and a salesman for a component housing company. I am a graduate of Boston College with a BSBA in accounting. I also earned advanced management certificates from the Williams College School of Banking and Babson College. Community activities included: serving on the Board of Trustees of Franklin Pierce University for fifteen years serving as head of the Board’s audit and finance committees and its Chair for ten years. I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in 2005. In addition, I was Chairman of the Board of Monadnock Hospital for three years and served on its board for ten years. I co-founded the local business development company, Monadnock Business Ventures and was named Business Leader of the year. I served a President of the New Hampshire Bankers Association. Founding Trustee and currently a Trustee and Board Chair of RiverMead Retirement Community located in Peterborough, NH. I am currently a certified SCORE volunteer, a Trustee of Trust Funds for the Town of Dublin, NH, and assisting raising funds for the new Divine Mercy church located in Peterborough, NH. In addition I have been elected to the volunteer boards of Peterborough Players and Treasurer, and a director and former Treasurer of the Autism Research Institute of San Diego, Ca. I am a Knight of Malta and a Knight of Columbus. I am a member of the Dublin Lake Club located in Dublin, NH. I have been married for fifty one years, four children and twelve grand children.
